Two Lehigh Valley Story Slams in October!

IMG_5750We have two Story Slams in October, which means you have two more opportunities to earn a slot in the Lehigh Valley Story Slam GRAND SLAM in November! Choose an October Slam, or plan on coming to both, and telling your best story.

If you haven’t been to a Story Slam yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Anyone who wants to tell a story puts their name in the hat. We pick out up to ten storytellers for the night. Each storyteller tells an approximately five-minute long story based on the theme of the night. Our judges determine the winner based on the criteria of content and presentation. While this is a competition, we don’t take that aspect too seriously, it is all in good fun. Don’t want to tell a story? That is totally fine because we love listeners also!

Here are our two dates and the venues for the October Story Slams. Please reserve your tickets so we have enough chairs ready!

thirdandferryLehigh Valley Story Slam is holding a story slam in Easton, PA!

Our next story slam will be held on Tuesday, September 29th at Third and Ferry Fish Market in Easton, PA. The theme is “Fast Lane!” Tickets available here.

A Story Slam is an event where anyone can take the stage and tell a story! The story should be loosely based on the theme of the night, be approximately five minutes long, and be true as you remember it! Three judges are chosen from the audience and each storyteller is given scores based on content and presentation. We don’t take the competition part too seriously, it’s all about sharing diverse stories.

Check out a story told at one of our events in Bethlehem and then pick up your tickets for our September 29th event! We hope you will tell a story or just come out to listen!

Pamela Varkony Wins Our Unvelievable Story Slam!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Pamela Varkony won our Unbelievable Story Slam with a story of revisiting her family home which had been taken by eminent domain years ago to become Lake Nockamixon State Park. Pamela took home the “tacky trophy” and earned a spot in our Grand Slam, which will take place in November.

The theme “Unbelievable” wound us through several amazing stories. We heard about trying to roll back a car odometer after driving a friend to a VD clinic and trying to stop a friend from harming themselves during a party gone out of control. We were treated to tales about personal encounters with Rick Springfield and Andrea Bocelli. We heard a story of losing one’s eyesight only to have it miraculously return eight years later. We heard about falling down a flight of stairs while both drunk and naked and we heard about the attempt to jump off a Hawaiian rock into the ocean.

Thanks to all our storytellers, our judges and especially the audience. We had a standing room only crowd tonight so we are putting general admission tickets for sale up right away for the next Story Slam, which is September 16th. Reserve your seat by clicking HERE.

Here is video of Pamela’s winning story. The rest of the stories from the night will be posted on the Lehigh Valley Story Slam YouTube Channel over the course of the day so check back.
